3D Areola Pigmentation & Nipple Simulation Aftercare

You have received 3D areola pigmentation and nipple simulation. It is VERY important to follow the aftercare recommended for optimum results. The main objective is to allow the area to heal without friction for maximum color retention. Failure to follow the recommended aftercare may jeopardize the outcome.

First 48 Hours
For the first few hours following the procedure you may experience some oozing at the site. This is natural lymphatic fluid that the body produces to begin the healing process.

It is recommended you do not allow the fluid to build up and dry onto the area as the result will be scabbing. You have been provided Aquaphor aftercare product to take home with you. The objective is to keep the area lightly moist to prevent drying out and scabbing of the area.

1. Using a Q-tip, sparingly apply a thin layer of Aquaphor 2-3 times daily for 7 days, or until there is no longer any flaking, crust or rough texture to the area. Do not overapply the product, as the skin will become overly moist and may not heal properly.

2. It is advisable to wear a loose fitting top with no bra and only non-stick bandages applied over the aftercare product so as not to cause friction or stick to clothing.

3. Gently wash the area with a cool, dampened cotton pad by dabbing the area clean, and then apply fresh aftercare product. Always use a clean damp pad to remove any previously applied ointment before applying fresh ointment. Do this with a gentle dabbing motion – do not rub, scrub, or use soap

After 48 Hours

1. After 3 days you can use a mild soap (Cetaphil has been provided) and water in the shower to gently clean the area but light rinsing – no direct shower spray until after 7 days.

2. Let the area air dry for 15-30 minutes until the tattoo is dry.

At Night

1. Use a very thin coat of Aquaphor and cover with non-stick bandage.

2. Wear loose fitting sleep/leisure bra.

After Day 7

1. Let your breasts dry out to continue healing on their own.

2. No more ointment

3. Still gently blot them with damp cotton swab, if still oozing lymphatic fluid.

4. Let them dry heal now

What should you expect afterwards?
3D Areola Pigmentation & Nipple Simulation Aftercare

1. Slight swelling and redness following the procedure and the skin may feel tight and sensitive. These symptoms will ease within 1-7 days depending on how sensitive your skin is and how much post surgical feeling has been preserved.

2. Peeling or scabbing may begin in about a week. NO picking, peeling, or scratching the epithelial crust – this can remove the color before it is properly healed and can cause infection. Allow it to flake off naturally. It is important the healing process take its natural course. As the pigmented area of the skin heals and dries it forms a scab. This can last 14-21 days and the dead cells (scab)will come off as the healing takes place. Scarring can also occur if the scabs are removed prematurely resulting in color loss.

3. For a minimum of 10 days or until peeling phase is complete, DO NOT expose your tattoo to dust or dirt, long, hot steamy showers, jacuzzi, steam room, or swimming. Salt water and chlorine can “bleach” the color out and it increases the chances of infection. No mud wrestling, washing the dog, gardening, etc.

4. There is no restriction on light physical activity, however to minimize potential complications such as infection or color loss please no strenuous activity or exercise for one week (longer for radiated skin)

5. In the RARE event of possible infection, you may see redness spreading out from the treated area, red streaks, oozing of purulent fluid (pus). The area will be warm to touch and you may have a low-grade fever. If you have any of these symptoms, call me Claudia McNeff 323-303-2377, but please seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY.

6. Gently pat dry following showers/baths, even after 5-6 months after tattoo procedure. This allows optimal time for healing.

7. You will notice slight fading of the pigment and softening of the color. Your tattoo may have a waxy or shiny appearance when it first peels and this is normal.

Variations to these recommendations are not encouraged and will most likely affect the final outcome of your procedure, if not totally remove the implanted color. Skin types, surgical results, scar tissue, etc., will determine the healed results. It is typical and customary to see some minor imperfections in color density, symmetry, and/or desired tone. These specifics will all be addressed at your follow-up visit and modifications or additional color applied as indicated by technician discretion and personal preference.

Following these simple instructions will make a big difference in the enjoyment and outcome of your procedure.
